Dots and Boxes, set in stone.
Uses DDAP Sigil
Saepta is the pen-and-paper game you know, played on a slab of dark marble. Draw a line between two dots; close a box and it is yours, and you draw again. When the last line is in, the player with more boxes wins.
Simple to learn, and deeper than it looks: the whole game turns on who is forced to open the first chain.
Features
Four Opponents
Novice draws at random, Greedy takes every box and avoids the third side, Chain-aware counts the chains and keeps control, and Expert reads the endgame out to the last line. Boards from 3 × 3 up to 10 × 10, any rectangle.
Sæpta Boards
Broken tiles, walls, grout already laid, and gold tesserae worth two or three boxes. Every board is checked so no box is handed over on the first line.
The Daily
One board a day, the same for everyone, against a strength that climbs through the week. Your first attempt counts: box margin first, then time. Build a streak and see how you rank.
Puzzles
Forty-eight positions against a perfect opponent, in four lessons: capture, control, sacrifice and the safe line. Goals are results, not move counts. Unlimited practice puzzles, carved fresh on your phone.
Leaderboards and Friends
Today's Daily, Dailies played, Best Streak, Expert Wins and Puzzles solved, with your friends first, then everyone. Add friends by code or QR; they show up in every Deep Dark Abyss game. Leaderboards are optional; the game plays fully offline without them.
Designed for Touch
Drag from dot to dot or tap anywhere along a line; both work on a 10 × 10. Undo takes back your line and every reply. Pass and play on one device, and a big, clear board on tablets in either orientation.

Privacy
Your progress is stored on your device. Leaderboards and friends are optional and use an anonymous DDAP Sigil: a random ID, the gamertag you choose, and your game results. No name, email, phone number or location is collected. Data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to track you, and you can delete your Sigil and all of its data from inside the app at any time. Read the full privacy policy.
Join the Saepta Beta
Saepta is in private beta for iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. Testing is by invitation: tap Request Beta Access below and fill in the short form in the email: your device, operating system and version, and the Apple ID or Google account you use with the App Store or Google Play. Test invitations are tied to that account, so please use the one on your device.
